Watch out World

Harper is finally getting around… & by getting around I mean WALKING! Lately it’s been a lot of furniture surfing & climbing. But today – she let go & took a few steps on her own! I was so surprised.. I guess I just didn’t think she was stable enough to do it. Little Miss Harper B was quick to prove her mama wrong as she stepped out on her own, letting go of the laundry basket to walk to me, letting go of the cedar chest to walk to me, & finally – releasing herself off Lydia’s potty seat (prolly after playing around in it… gross :/), walking to the bathroom door. It’s amazing how fast these little people grow up. Maybe I just assumed she wasn’t ready because, in my mind, she’s still “little”. After all, she is my precious little angel of a baby girl; my last. She could crawl forever, & that’d be alright with me.

Well, Harper soon discovered that learning to walk isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be. What she didn’t plan for obviously happened… We stumbled, we fell, we pouted, we cried. But the one thing so fun & interesting about Harper is that she didn’t give up; she persevered. In the pictures below you’ll notice two battle wounds. The bruise alongside her left eye is from cracking her noggin on the bathtub. She didn’t quite make her destination.  The split open bump above her right eye is from miscalculating her climb UP the cedar chest… & boy was that one a whopper. (She cried for quite some time after that. You can see her little tears in the pictures.) But, when it was all said & done, after her bottle & some Tylenol, Harper was back at… climbing, surfing, crawling… even laughing. Guess it just goes to show that she’s not the baby I thought she was – a quiet, calm, needy infant. Instead, she’s strong, determined, & very, very brave.

Our world is about to change! Harper is walking!
